From Early Formation to Loving Well

Many journeys begin in unexpected places and experiences that shape how we see people, work, and leadership.

At this Startup Starters Huddle, we will hear from Alan Kearns, founder of CareerJoy, an award-winning national people-and-culture firm helping organisations make work better for Canadians.

Born in Ireland and raised in Canada by immigrant parents who discovered dignity and meaning through their work, Alan grew up with a deep conviction that work is more than a job — it is a place where people contribute, grow, and serve others.

That conviction led him to launch CareerJoy, which has partnered with more than 2,300 organisations, including Shopify, MNP, Fluevog Shoes, The Salvation Army, Military Family Services, and the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.

In this conversation, Alan will reflect on his entrepreneurial journey, the lessons learned through decades of leadership development, and why aligning people with meaningful work matters more than ever today.
